Restoring Kirn back to its glory

CBS assisted the owner of this charming cottage in Kirn by restoring and enhancing its features, transforming it into a welcoming home for a new family.

Project: The project included structural repairs, renewing and refurbishing the external render and paint, interior updates such as a new kitchen, new downstairs bathroom, new luxurious main bathroom, restoring all original doors and floors, replacing the room, upgrade and certify the electrics, removing the old fireplace and modernising the entire home, all while preserving the cottage's unique character. This careful renovation not only revitalized the property but also created a warm and inviting space for future memories to be made.

Carpeting stairs and stripping metal work

Railings were meticulously stripped back and repainted while the stairs were carpeted to give a more modern refresh

Window installation and surround repair

A new window and window surround turns this hall window into feature with a great view.

Timber cladding to add character to the side entrance

Kitchen entrances don't need to be boring. We added a timber clad surround to bring warmth and charm into the initial experience.

Elegant yet simple kitchen install

We stripped the ageing kitchen out, replumbed and rewired everything and installed a new Howdens supplied kitchen.

Restoring floors throughout

We stripped back all of the old carpeting and floor works, sanded every board down and used linseed oil to bring out its character.

Fireplace removal

We removed the old fireplace which would have been a problem in a rental unit.

More space for a larger family

By removing the fireplace the living room is now larger and more practical. All walls have been replastered and decorated.

Bay window repair and installation

All of the old windows had to be stripped out and replaced, while the timbers all had to be sanded, repaired and redecorated.

Creating a new back bedroom

We turned an awkward space into a usable bedroom by stripping out the fireplace and restoring walls and floors..

Front lounge now has a lovely alcove

As a joiner, I love it when I get to build alcove storage. It makes a great space for families to keep their pictures and personal effects.
